Virus removal – The good, the bad, the ugly

For today’s topic I want to go over several ways you can quickly and easily get rid of viruses and how to prevent them. At one time or another I’m sure many of you have at least encountered a virus that has done damage to your computer at least. As annoying as they are some viruses are actually harmless or the threat level is minimal.

In the future I will talk about the different types of viruses that threatens our computers.

The most important part of dealing with viruses is one word prevention. Avoid sites that doesn’t constantly bombard you with popups. Normally viruses try to infect your computer when you click on a link. Install additional popup blockers or raise your popup blocker settings for more protection.

Be careful of what programs you install onto your computer. Sometimes additional programs could be installed on your computer without your knowledge. One example is receiving multiple prompts to install software from a link on a webpage. A lot of times these are scams and programs that can cause problems with your systems performance.

If you noticed anything out of the ordinary such as the information I have described above. You can uninstall these programs by going into your control panel.

Use your antivirus to regularly scan your computer for potential threats. It would be a good idea to scan your computer on a daily basis. As I mentioned before in my previous post to make sure you keep it updated.

You must be aware of what websites you travel too and what items you download over the internet. For example people normally catch viruses from visiting websites who constantly download music, movies, games, and use torrents.

Lastly if your computer has became completely overrun with viruses the final step with dealing with such a headache is to restore your computer to its factory settings. Be aware that using system restore will not work at all in regards with dealing with viruses. It is possible to try other options however you may waste more time than needed.
