To this!

For this post I want to go over some of the steps and tools needed to properly clean & make your computer new again.

Every now and then your computer needs to be checked and cleaned of harmful dust that will cause your computer to overheat and cause problems. The reason why this occurs is because when dust build up it will cause the temperatures of your system to raise. This is even worse during the summer time.

Normally cleaning your computer doesn’t take too long maybe at least 30 minutes of your time.

Typically your computer should be checked and cleaned a minimum of 3 months to 6 months. Overall dust accumulation may not occur as fast as you think. It all depends on the environment where your computer is located.

If your computer is located on the floor there is more of a chance for more particles to build up from dust, hair and pet fur.

I would recommend keeping your computer at a higher elevated position.

Keep in mind that there maybe some or several parts that might have to be removed to be cleaned such as memory, video cards, network cards, and fans.

If you’ve noticed your computer performing slower than usual or jumps in performance then there is a possibility that the cause of the issue could be dust build up.

PC Cleaning – Computer Repair Tip Number Two:

Before doing anything always make sure your computer is turned off and the power cord is disconnected. The worst thing you could do is try to clean your computer with it powered on.

Next find a well-lit place that has proper ventilation and a good table to lay your computer on. If your computer has a lot of dust then it might be a good idea to setup some old newspaper around to capture any lingering dust.

Computer Repair Tip Number Three:

With all the dust flying around make sure to keep your distance when cleaning your system. If dust is a serious concern don’t hesitate to purchase a dust mask.

OK now you are ready to start the process of cleaning your computer. First you must open the side case of your computer. Depending on your computer normally there is a few screws that hold the side panel together. Other cases have a lever you must pull to open the case.

Once inside your computer you can see and guage how much dust you will have to clean.

Proceed to use the compressed air can to spray around the areas containing dust. You can use a cloth to wipe around flat surfaces and use the paint brush for hard to reach places your air can misses.
